For banks, secure access to enterprise applications is critical but security should not come at the cost of user convenience. A leading private bank was using Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) with separate application-level authentication. This meant users had to authenticate independently to EBS, creating additional login steps, password-management overhead and a less consistent experience across the application landscape.
The bank wanted to modernize this experience while strengthening centralized authentication, access governance and security controls. Clover Infotech implemented Single Sign-On (SSO) for Oracle E-Business Suite using Oracle Access Manager (OAM), integrated with the bank’s existing Active Directory environment.
The Challenge: Balancing Security with User Experience
The bank’s existing authentication model created several challenges:
- Separate EBS authentication: Users needed to log in separately to Oracle EBS, adding friction to everyday access.
- Decentralized authentication: EBS authentication needed to align with the bank’s broader security and authentication policies.
- Password management overhead: Application-specific credentials increased password-related support activities.
- Access governance requirements: The bank needed greater centralized control and visibility over authentication and application access.
- Inconsistent user experience: The organization wanted a more consistent authentication experience across its banking applications.
- Need for scalability: The bank wanted an SSO foundation that could support future enterprise application integration and broader Identity & Access Management (IAM) initiatives.
The objective was therefore not simply to eliminate an extra login. It was to create a centralized and scalable authentication framework while continuing to leverage the bank’s existing identity infrastructure.
The Solution: Connecting Enterprise Identity with Oracle EBS
Clover Infotech managed the end-to-end implementation of Single Sign-On for Oracle E-Business Suite, leveraging the bank’s existing Active Directory environment and integrating EBS with an OAM-based authentication framework.
The solution included:
- Oracle Access Manager-Based SSO
Oracle Access Manager was implemented to enable users to access Oracle EBS using their existing corporate identity, removing the need for a separate EBS login.
- Active Directory and Oracle Unified Directory Integration
Microsoft Active Directory was integrated with Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) using the Directory Integration Platform (DIP), enabling identity information to be synchronized across the authentication ecosystem.
- Secure EBS Integration with WebGate and AccessGate
OAM WebGate was implemented to secure the Oracle EBS web entry point and redirect users to the centralized authentication service.
OAM AccessGate was integrated to securely pass the authenticated user identity to EBS, eliminating the need for users to authenticate separately within EBS.
- Centralized Authentication
Authentication was centralized through OAM, allowing consistent management of authentication and SSO policies while continuing to use existing Active Directory credentials.
- End-to-End Identity Mapping
Identity mapping was configured across the complete authentication flow:
Active Directory → OUD → OAM → Oracle EBS
This ensured that authenticated users were correctly mapped to their corresponding EBS accounts.
- End-to-End Testing
Integration, functional and security testing was performed across authentication, SSO, user access, session management and EBS integration to validate the implementation.
The Transformation: From Application-Level Login to Centralized Access
The implementation transformed how users accessed Oracle EBS.

Business Value Delivered
The transformation delivered value across user experience, operational efficiency, security and governance.
- Seamless and Secure Access: Users could access Oracle EBS using their existing corporate credentials, supported by centralized authentication and access controls.
- Centralized Identity and Password Governance: Authentication, password policies, access management and governance were centralized through Active Directory and OAM.
- Improved Operational Efficiency: By reducing login complexity and application-level authentication administration, the implementation also reduced password-related support effort.
- Enhanced Security Governance: Centralized authentication improved control and visibility over authentication, session management and user access while supporting the bank’s security and governance objectives.
- A Foundation for Future IAM Transformation: Beyond Oracle EBS, the implementation established a scalable foundation for future initiatives, including MFA and broader Identity & Access Management transformation.
Beyond SSO: Building a More Connected Identity Ecosystem
For enterprises running Oracle E-Business Suite, authentication is more than a login mechanism. It sits at the intersection of security, governance, user experience and operational efficiency.
By integrating Oracle EBS with the bank’s existing identity ecosystem, Clover Infotech helped move authentication from an application-specific process toward a centralized enterprise identity model.
The transformation demonstrates how organizations can modernize access to critical Oracle applications while continuing to leverage their existing identity infrastructure and create a foundation for the next stage of IAM evolution.
