Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as the most popular buzzword of the technology industry. Since its inception, AI has managed to generate enough curiosity around itself. However, it is yet to advance enough to match up with the expectations. The notion that machines will replace humans is still far-fetched.

With researchers, scientist and corporates all over the globe trying to integrate this technology more into our daily lives, it has become an imperative to consider ways to make this technology more human.

Following innovations can give this technology more human-like dimensions:

Integrate different experiences and perspectives – We live in an inclusive world, where owing to the rapid digital revolution, physical presence is not a pre-requisite for gaining comprehensive experiences. People are interacting out of their immediate environment and acquiring new perspectives. The days of a static world are completely over with lightning fast connectivity.

In such a world, technology is expected to keep up with the rapid converging of different cultures, languages, and perspectives. Hence, one way to make AI more intelligent is by understanding and accounting for cultural differences and the nuances of different dialects and languages.

Not just IQ, the AI systems of today are expected to have an advanced EQ – Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is an integral element of human intelligence. The human brain allows people to perform cognitive functions such as thinking, reasoning, remembering, and feeling things. Without this ability, all experiences are incomplete. Without developing cognitive abilities, AI systems can never mimic human behaviour. They can never fully read or interpret the emotions of others and hence respond to them appropriately. In fact, in today’s dynamic, fast-paced and stressful world, emotional intelligence is given preference over the regular intelligence quotient. Hence, if AI systems want to feel and act like humans, then they need to have a high level of emotional intelligence.

The power of imagination and virtualization – Imagine an AI-based computer system being able to visualize our thoughts and views? Massive research in AI technology is enabling scientist to develop human-like intelligent models and systems.  Recent advancements in hardware innovation have re-energized the AI technology. It is becoming more accurate, authentic and is able to develop imagination and visualization capabilities. Sophisticated processors allow these systems to decide, plan outputs, and learn from their mistakes.

A team of Japanese scientists from a reputed university have recently published their research findings based on AI systems. Their study mainly exposed the decoding of human thoughts using an artificially intelligent system.  The artificial intelligence system became so smart and real in duplicating human mind that it accurately depicted the team’s thoughts. This goes on to show that now scientists are successful in developing the next phase of AI – the one that uses human psychology.

Lastly, the whole world is excited about the news of AI-based systems and robots being able to read minds and emulate human behaviour. However, the technology is yet to realize its full potential. It would be very exciting to witness the future of AI as it will keep evolving, owing to the continuous research and development in this area.
