In today’s NBFC landscape, the CFO’s office has evolved from a reporting function into a strategic command center for financial governance, compliance, treasury operations, and business decision-making. When the underlying ERP landscape becomes outdated, every one of these responsibilities becomes significantly more challenging.
This was precisely the situation facing a leading NBFC running a tightly integrated Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) ecosystem. The organisation needed to move to Oracle Fusion Financials and Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI). The transition had to be completed in just five months, without disrupting ongoing financial operations or regulatory reporting. Clover Infotech partnered with the NBFC to make it happen, in what became one of the fastest Oracle Fusion Financials implementations in under 5 months.
The Challenge: Modernisation Without Disruption
The NBFC’s finance function had specific, non-negotiable requirements. It needed to:
- Implement Oracle Fusion Financials with a new Chart of Accounts (COA), built around its as-is Oracle R12 structure and new business requirements, in just five months
- Design a COA aligned to business needs, capable of delivering granular, detailed insights
- Automate the preparation of GAAP and Ind AS financial statements
- Implement a customised host-to-host (H2H) payment process using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and Fusion functionality, despite limited metadata availability in SaaS
- Integrate with its new treasury system (Intellect) via OIC, covering Investment, Derivative, and Borrowing module transactions
- Build in a full audit trail to satisfy regulatory requirements
- Deploy single sign-on (SSO) in line with organisational policy
- Implement Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) for historical data reporting, as mandated by regulators
Individually, each requirement is manageable. Together, on a five-month clock, they represented a genuinely demanding transformation programme and the one where any misstep in data migration could disrupt live trial balances or regulatory filings.
Clover Infotech approached the transformation with a clear objective: modernize the finance ecosystem without disrupting ongoing operations or regulatory reporting.
The Solution: Modernizing Finance Through Integration and Intelligence
Leveraging deep expertise in Oracle Fusion Applications, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI), Clover Infotech delivered one of the fastest Oracle Fusion Financials implementations. The engagement included:
- Clean data migration. Open balances and transactions were migrated with zero impact on the published trial balance (TB), a critical requirement for any finance team that cannot afford reporting discontinuity during a system change.
- A COA built for insight. A new Chart of Accounts was configured to meet the NBFC’s business requirements for detailed financial insight, then deployed and validated to ensure accurate accounting within the TB.
- Automated statutory reporting. A secondary ledger was configured to automate the preparation of GAAP and Ind AS financial statements, supported by seamless integration and validation processes while reducing manual reconciliation work for the finance team.
- A secure, custom H2H payment process. The team implemented the host-to-host payment process in the customer’s bank-specific format using OIC, with file encryption applied at the point of payment. Encryption takes place at the Fusion end, with decryption handled at the Snorkel server end, ensuring payment data remains protected in transit.
- Automated transaction reconciliation. Once the finance team uploads a bank statement, auto-reconciliation runs automatically using the document number removing a traditionally manual, error-prone step from the monthly close process.
- Tight treasury-to-Fusion integration. The connection between the new treasury platform and Oracle Fusion was engineered to eliminate manual intervention, closing off a common source of data manipulation risk.
- Data intelligence for better decision-making. Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) unified historical and current financial data into intuitive dashboards, giving finance leaders faster access to actionable insights while meeting historical reporting requirements.
The Business Impact
The implementation delivered measurable operational improvements while creating a stronger digital foundation for the finance function. It delivered outcomes that extend well beyond a faster monthly close:
- A single source of truth for faster, better-informed decision-making across the CFO’s office
- A highly secure, scalable environment built to support the NBFC’s next phase of growth
- Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), freeing up budget for further digital investment
- Progress against ESG objectives, through a reduced carbon footprint from cloud-based infrastructure
Why This Matters for NBFCs Considering Fusion Migration
Finance transformation is no longer measured by the successful deployment of an ERP system alone. It is defined by the ability to deliver trusted data, automate critical financial processes, and empower business leaders with real-time intelligence.
By combining Oracle Fusion Financials, Oracle Integration Cloud, and Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence into a tightly integrated solution, Clover Infotech helped this leading NBFC modernize its CFO office in record time, laying the foundation for smarter financial management, stronger compliance, and future-ready growth.
This engagement is a useful reference point for any NBFC or regulated financial institution weighing up a move from Oracle EBS to Oracle Fusion Financials. The lesson isn’t just that Fusion Financials and FDI can deliver a modern, insight-led finance function but it’s that this can be achieved on an aggressive timeline, without compromising the accuracy of live financial data or regulatory compliance along the way.
At Clover Infotech, this is where our i³ Framework (Implementation, Integration, Insights) for Oracle ERP comes into play. Getting the implementation right is only the first step; true value comes from integrating the new platform tightly with adjacent systems (in this case, treasury) and from data intelligence layers like FDI that turn historical and live data into decision-ready insight.
